We welcome you to begin your child’s lifelong love of learning at Cherry Blossom Grove Montessori. Our passionate and professional Montessori teachers create a homely, nurturing environment of safety, trust, exploration and independence, with an individually tailored curriculum for each child based on Dr Maria Montessori’s education philosophy. It is a philosophy based on the principle of freedom, in a carefully prepared environment, where the child learns by doing.

Cherry Blossom Grove Montessori’s classroom is a home from home.It is a spacious, rich and varied environment – fully stocked with Montessori materials, puzzles, books and toys; with individual activity tables, group tables and open floor areas that promote group interaction, quiet areas for independent interests, sensory tables and free play areas, along with a large and safe, enriching outdoor garden, with a sand and water play area, a slide, planting beds, outdoor toys and plenty of space to run freely and play.“The land is where our roots are.The children must be taught to feel and live in harmony with the Earth”. Maria Montessori.

We provide an holistic approach to learning, providing ample opportunities and areas for free play, the Home Corner, Block Area, and Shop for example, all underpinned by Montessori’s principals and incorporating some of her materials into these areas. For example, in the Home Corner, children have access to pegging, pouring, spooning and polishing, they sweep and learn to take care of our dolls and teddies; while in the Shop children are exposed to the number symbols, they categorise and sort, grade and count.

Nearly everything within our school is child-sized. Children can “work” with authentic Montessori materials whenever they wish, including a wide range of high quality, age appropriate materials – such as the Pink Tower, Sandpaper sounds and numbers, Textured boards, Knobbed cylinders and Coloured Globes, to name just a few.All of our materials are designed to be self-teaching, our children learn to solve problems, see natural connections in knowledge, learn skills related to practical living and therefore expand their imaginative thinking. Operating on the principal of freedom within limits, Cherry Blossom Grove Montessori encourages children to work at their own pace, alone or with others. Our teachers encourage the growth of self-motivated, independent children, through a mixture of active, self-directed learning, small group work and peer teaching.“To assist a child we must provide him with an environment which will enable him to develop freely.” Maria Montessori.

Our mixed aged classroom provides a special richness of interaction for children aged between 2 ½ and 5 ½ years. This mixture of ages allows children to have a variety of social interactions with their classmates, and our older children become like “little teachers”.

Our goals for all children in our care include:

  • Having fun daily through a variety of activities.
  • Fostering a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Fostering inner-security, self-confidence and independence.
  • Developing habits of initiative and development.
  • Fostering kindness, friendship and positive social interactions.
  • Promoting the healthy growth and development of each child
  • Developing social, physical and learning skills.
